Experiencing the red centre
Leaving the northern territory after almost three months, I'm heading to South Australia on a road trip.
The road trip started already more than one week ago and it took me to explore the red centre way of the Northern territory, the part of territory I was missing and the most natural and/or touristic one.
After I'd left the cattle station in Barrow Creek, I've reached Alice Springs for a big shopping day and some commissions, in order to get ready for the big adventure: a visit to the west macdonnell ranges, to some beautiful gorges and relaxing spots, a 4WD ride through the Mereenie Loop, home of the Arrernte people, that connects last gorge of the westmacdonnell ranges to Wattarka National Park, where the Kings Canyon is situated, and finally a visit to Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park to see The Olgas and Ayers Rock, learn about the culture of this places, learn about their scientific formation, live the environment and atmosphere of this places, especially during sunset time, when all the colours change, painting the rocks of a bloody vivid red and turning the sky light violet at first and orange later, while the sun sets back the orison.
As well as the sailing trip, this road trip is one of the big adventure that I'm experience in Australia. It's not my first trip on the road, but it's the longest one in duration and modality. I've never camped more than one week in Italy and this trip is just about camping. You've gotta know that Australia and its inhabitants are just about road trip and leaving on the road, they get crazy for all the different sort of gears and equipments necessary for feeling home everywhere. Most of them have a nomad soul, it's all about being grey nomad when you are old and retired or it's all about traveling when you're young and willing to do the most of your life and time, but it is also being natural adventurous and bring all the family with you, bring the kids in the wild, go bush walking or see truly beautiful untouched places and could be even for one or two years around the most of the country.
Australia is all about the attitude, is all about the "give it a go" and the people are genuine, friendly and open, at least most of them.
The Northern Territory is land of exploration, it was, it's been and still it is.
The first explorers tried to find new routes and discovered places, species, wildlife and everything needed to be explorer, they built the telegraph line from Adelaide to Darwin and pushed themselves into the wild areas of the outback/desert in a time where the only way of transportation was horses or camel.
I ended up to see most of the places of Northern Territory, to live the country and the bush life, to experience the atmosphere and the environment of a country lifestyle. I almost felt a real explorer on the way.. eheh
I think it would be one of that experience that I'd never forget for my entire life, being so interesting, different and exciting for he whole time I've been there. I've met incredible people, true and honest, simply lovely human beings!!
